Why I created Ask Me Instead

Hi, I’m Mimi.

Ask Me Instead started with my parents.

Like so many people, they would call me when they needed help with something digital — their phones, an app, a password, buying something online, figuring out a website, or understanding some new piece of technology that seemed to appear overnight.

And I was always happy to help them.

But it made me realize something.

So much of everyday life has moved online, and we somehow expect everyone to just keep up.

Phones change. Apps update. Banking, shopping, travel, appointments and communication have all become increasingly digital. And now AI is changing things all over again.

My parents are smart, capable people. They just didn’t grow up with all of this.

And I started thinking about how many other people must be doing the same thing — calling their kids, their friends, or someone younger and saying:

“Can you help me with this?”

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking your kids for help.

But you shouldn’t have to ask your kids every time technology changes.

That’s why I created Ask Me Instead.

A place especially for adults 55+ where you can get simple, patient help with everyday technology — without feeling embarrassed, rushed, or like you should already know the answer.

Your phone. Apps. Email. Passwords. Online shopping. Banking. Travel. Digital safety. Scams. AI. And whatever comes next.
