Ask Me Instead — simple tech, clearly explained

Membership terms

These are the terms for The Ask Me Instead Community, in plain words. They are separate from the terms for guides and for Ask Mimi calls.

Price and billing

  • The membership is $20 a month, plus any sales tax where it applies.
  • You are charged when you join, then on the same day each month until you cancel.
  • There is no free trial, no annual plan, no discount and no lifetime option.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Canceling

  • You can cancel anytime from My Membership, or by emailing ask@askmeinstead.com.
  • When you cancel, you won’t be charged again. You keep access until the end of the month you already paid for.
  • We don’t give partial refunds for a month that has already started, unless the law requires it. If something went wrong, email us and Mimi will look at it fairly.
  • Refunds are never automatic. They are handled by email.

If a payment doesn’t go through

Stripe will try your card again and email you. You keep access for up to 7 days after your renewal date while that happens. If the payment still doesn’t go through, the membership ends. You can update your card from My Membership.

What’s included

  • One live group session on Zoom each month, up to 40 minutes, with a chance to send a question ahead. Mimi answers as many as time allows.
  • One short tech lesson each month.
  • A private member space for questions and tips between members.
  • A member library of past lessons, session summaries and links. Recordings are added only when a session was recorded and everyone was told beforehand.
  • If Mimi ever has to move a live session, members will see the new date in the member area.

What’s not included

  • Private one-on-one calls. These are Ask Mimi calls, sold separately with their own refund rules.
  • Paid guides and books, which are sold separately.
  • Unlimited personal help, private consulting, or guaranteed same-day replies.
  • Medical, legal or financial advice.

Community rules

  • Be kind and patient. Everyone here is learning.
  • Never post passwords, sign-in codes, card or bank numbers, Social Security or Medicare numbers. Nobody here will ever ask for them.
  • Keep it about technology. No selling, no politics.
  • Please don’t share the Zoom link or copy other members’ posts outside the community.
  • Mimi may remove posts or replies, close a conversation, or end a membership for repeated or serious rule-breaking.

Your account

The membership needs a sign-in so only members can see the private space. Other members see only the display name you choose, never your email. To see what we keep, read our Privacy page. Nothing here limits your rights under the law.
